Calvin Peacock Takes the Reins for the CornBelters this Summer

NORMAL, IL – After starting his coaching career in the Kernels Collegiate League this past summer, the CornBelters have announced Calvin Peacock will manage the Prospect League team in 2021.

Peacock managed the injury-plagued Hoots of the Kernels Collegiate League in 2020, and is currently the Pitching Coach at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois.

“I would just like to start by saying thank you to the Normal CornBelters, Matt Stembridge and Mike Brown for the awesome opportunity to manage the CornBelters this summer. I am looking forward to another great season in Normal, and I cannot wait to see everyone back at the Corn Crib.”

A native of Bartonville, Illinois, Peacock has grown up knowing what it means to play baseball in Central Illinois. After graduating from Limestone High School in 2016, he went on to pitch for Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg. The Southpaw would make 27 appearances for the Falcons from 2017 to 2018, before moving onto the Division 1 level at Chicago State. Peacock would end his college career with the Cougars after the COVID-19 pandemic suspended the 2020 season.

Joining Peacock in the dugout will be former 2002 Royals 2nd round pick Adam Donachie. A native of Winter Park, Florida, Adam played for ten years in the Minor Leagues and reached as high as AAA with the Norfolk Tide (Orioles) in 2010. After playing for five seasons with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League, Donachie would retire and have coaching stints with Chicago State University and the Nexen Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization. He is currently an assistant coach at Southwestern Illinois College.

The CornBelters start Prospect League play on May 27th at the Corn Crib against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. Single game and ticket packages are now available through the team’s online box office,
