There’s No Place Like Home

Early in the 2026 season, the CornBelters have found immense success in front of their home crowd. With a 4-1 record at the Corn Crib, it is safe to say there’s no place like home for Normal. 

The trend continued Tuesday night with a dominant 12-2 victory over the Quincy Doggy Paddlers, fueled by a balanced offensive attack and consistent pitching. 

The offense exploded against the Paddlers as the ’Belters had 18 hits and 12 runs. Utility player Tyler Thompson ended the night 4-5 with 3 runs. Infielder Nolan McCrossin went 3-4 with 4 RBI’s at the plate and was the player of the game. Outfielder Carter Bleakney continued the pace and went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s. While Thompson, McCrossin and Bleakney led the way, the offensive production was spread throughout the lineup.

Starting pitcher Graham Kasey had a promising night on the mound, continuing his successful start to the season. Kasey pitched 6 innings, an uncommon amount for pitchers in the Prospect League. Within these innings, he limited Quincy to 5 hits and 2 runs, keeping the offense in complete control over the ballgame. This marks Kasey’s second win of the new season as he has established himself as one of Normal’s most reliable arms early in the season. 

Looking ahead, the CornBelters travel to Quincy Wednesday night, hoping to maintain and build off their success from Tuesday night. Normal has struggled on the road so far and have yet to win with an 0-2 record.
